Das Bux Ensemble wurde in seiner ursprünglichen Besetzung 2016 unter dem Namen „Bux Quartet“ gegründet. Der Name „Bux“ entstand mit dem Gedanken an das Holz Buchsbaum (boxtree), aus dem viele Instrumente des Ensembles gebaut sind. Seit 2019 setzt das Ensemble seine Arbeit in der Basis als Blockflötentrio fort in der Besetzung mit Wei Hung, Chia-Ying Chuang und Franziska Salker. Zusammen absolvierten sie ihren Master of Music - Ensemble, Blockflöte an der Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln bei Prof. Kerstin de Witt und Prof. Leonard Schelb.

In der Besetzung als „Bux Quartet“ (mit Chia-Ling Lee) arbeitete das Ensemble bereits zusammen mit den Komponisten Ferdinand Grätz und Wim Henderickx und erhielt ab 2018 eine Förderung vom Verein Live Music Now-Köln e.V. Neben einer Konzertreise nach Taiwan, gefördert vom Goethe-Institut Taipei, spielte Bux zwei Fringe Konzerte beim Utrecht Early Music Festival 2019. Als Trio setzt das Ensemble seinen Schwerpunkt weiterhin auf die Verbindung des Repertoires der Renaissance, dem Barock, bis hin zur zeitgenössischen Musik. Die Zusammenarbeit mit Komponist*innen ist für sie ein wichtiges Anliegen: Im Fokus steht, neue Klangwelten und -möglichkeiten zu erforschen und die Instrumente auch in verschiedenen performativen Kontexten neu zu interpretieren.

2021 realisierte das Ensemble zusammen mit der taiwanesischen Komponistin Chin-Hsien Chung die Auftragskomposition "The invisible wall", die durch die Kunststiftung NRW gefördert und in der Pandemiezeit als Video veröffentlicht wurde. 2022 gestaltete das Bux Ensemble das Konzertprogramm "Remembering Voice" mit Konzerten in Köln und Berlin, in dem weitere Auftragskompositionen uraufgeführt wurden: Aus der Zusammenarbeit mit Komponistin Helena Cánovas Parés entstand das Stück "where is my voice?" für Blockflötentrio, ebenso wie das Werk von Eli Simić-Prošić "I miss this remembering". Das Projekt wurde gefördert durch das NEUSTART KULTUR Programm: „Erhalt und Stärkung der Infrastruktur für Kultur in Deutschland – Freie Musikensembles“.

The Bux Ensemble was founded in 2016 under the name "Bux Quartet". The name "Bux" was created with the idea of the wood boxwood (boxtree), from which many of the ensemble's instruments are made. Since 2019, the ensemble has continued its work as a recorder trio with Wei Hung, Chia-Ying Chuang and Franziska Salker. Recently they completed their Master of Music - Ensemble, Recorder at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln with Prof. Kerstin de Witt and Prof. Leonard Schelb.

Formed as the "Bux Quartet" (with Chia-Ling Lee), the ensemble has collaborated with composers Ferdinand Grätz and Wim Henderickx and received funding from the Live Music Now-Köln e.V. association as of 2018. In addition to a concert tour to Taiwan, supported by the Goethe-Institut Taipei, Bux played two Fringe concerts at the 2019 Utrecht Early Music Festival. As a trio, the ensemble continues to focus on combining repertoire from the Renaissance, Baroque, to contemporary music. Collaboration with composers* is an important concern for them: The focus is on exploring new sound worlds and possibilities and also reinterpreting the instruments in various performative contexts.

In 2021, the ensemble realized the commissioned composition "The invisible wall" together with the Taiwanese composer Chin-Hsien Chung, which was funded by the Kunststiftung NRW and released as a video during the pandemic.
